Cooking

Another way of keeping children entertained is to do some simple cooking with them. It's educational and fun, creative and rewarding at the end.

Here's a simple recipe to start with

You will need-

100g/4oz soft butter or marge.

100g/4oz Castor sugar

2 eggs

100g/4oz self raising flour sifted.

1. Cream sugar and butter together until light and fluffy.

2. Beat in the eggs.

3. Fold in the flour with metal spoon.

4. Spoon equal amounts into 18 paper cases standing in 18 uncreased bun tins.

5. Bake in a pre-heated oven, 190ºc/375ºf or gas No. 5 for 20-25 Min's.
They should be well risen and golden.

6. Cool on a wire rack.

You could decorate when cold , with icing sugar mixed with water, or icing sugar mixed with softened butter. Try melted chocolate, chocolate spread or jam, and put on Glace cherries, chocolate buttons, grated chocolate, sugar strands, dolly mixtures etc..
